Parent Donation Contribution

At Te Mata School, we are committed to providing the very best learning experiences, resources, and opportunities for our children. While we would love for government funding to cover everything we offer, the reality is that we rely on the generosity of our school families to help bridge the gap. Your support makes a real difference, and we are truly grateful.

Government operational funding is based on the Equity Index, which considers household income levels within each school community. Schools with a higher index receive significantly more funding per child than lower-index schools like ours. This means we need to find additional ways to ensure our children continue to benefi t from the high-quality programmes and resources they deserve and currently have access to.

Our amazing Home & School team works tirelessly to fundraise, however donations from our families remain essential in maintaining the rich learning experiences we offer. Your contributions directly support:

● Teacher aides to support and enhance learning programmes across the school.
● Provide additional literacy and maths resources, including Structured Literacy and library books.
● Computer software, leasing and maintenance to enable children to have access to devices for learning.
● Extra part-time staff eg: Sports Coordinator, Librarian.

2025 Parent Donation
This year, we kindly ask for a parent donation of $260 per child. This can be paid through Kindo. There are a variety of flexible payment options:

● In one lump sum
● Termly
● Spread throughout the year.

Tax Refunds for Donations:
Every parent/family is entitled to claim back any donations throughout the year as they are tax-deductible. This means that IRD refunds up to 33% of your donation, meaning you can claim back $86.66 of your school donation. This means that the actual cost comes down to $174.20 per child. This is $4 per week or less than $1 a day. To claim this credit please fill out a Tax credit claim form - IR526 (see button below) and return it to the Inland Revenue Department.

Once again your generosity ensures that our children continue to receive an outstanding education, rich learning and wider curriculum opportunities, and the best possible start in life.

Yours sincerely
Patrice O’Connor (Principal)
